The 1510 West covers the news within the 151.0 square kilometres of the West Island region, telling the stories that are worth your time.
The 1510 West is a new breed of community newspaper – with an emphasis on both news and paper. As the tagline on our nameplate explains, this is where West Island news lives. We are focused on covering the news that residents who live within the 151.0 square kilometres of the West Island region need to know. That means keeping you up to date on what is happening with your municipal and regional governments, providing fact-filled reports on issues of interest and concern, and offering thoughtful and reasoned debate and commentary. But that is not all. This newspaper will work hard to also reflect the community it serves. This is an essential quality that some media has quietly, and quite ironically, lost during the last few years in a rush to throw everything online and hope that you find it on Facebook in drips and drabs. It will also look to support and partner with local businesses and help community groups get their messages out. These stakeholders are a big part of our community.

Veteran writer and journalist Terry O’Shaughnessy writes Gone to Ground, which is not your ordinary gardening column. Denise Duguay
TV Columnist
A longtime newspaper editor, Denise Duguay writes the TV Watch Report, which aims to help readers find something worth watching among the growing list of options on a wide variety of streaming and broadcast platforms. Capitalizing on a youth misspent way too close to the family TV set, she has been writing about TV since 1986, first as a TV critic for the Winnipeg Sun and then for the Montreal Gazette and the Winnipeg Free Press. If she is not writing about TV, she is watching it, sometimes even when she looks like she’s sleeping.

Today, he is a columnist with The Hill Times, which covers Parliament and the federal government, and president of the Task Force on Linguistic Policy, a grassroots group that was formed in the wake of Quebec’s Bill 96, which overhauled the province’s Charter of the French Language.
The West Island area is fortunate. It is distinctive from other areas of the province. It has developed a distinctive quality of community, an often difficult-to-measure, but nonetheless real spirit that lets us all feel like we are part of something. We have a stake in it. We chose to make our home here. And we are asking you to make another conscious choice. Pick up The 1510 West. Make it your meeting place to reflect on the consciousness of this community. Help us be the window through which the rest of the world sees this community. We can be the example that inspires others.
