1936-2025
Passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 at the Lakeshore General Hospital. Heather was born in Montreal to Dorothy (Young) and Fred Bush. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her sister Frankie surrounded by grandparents and extended family. Fred’s job sent them to Western Canada for several years after which they settled in Lachine where she attended Lachine High School. Her parents instilled a love of family and sense of humour that she passed on to the next generations. Heather met Roger on the commuter train heading into work from Dorval / Lachine to Montreal. They married in 1957 and had six children.
Bush-Lague
In 1968 they moved to their home in Dollard-des-Ormeaux where they raised their family, hosting many parties with neighbours, Sunday family dinners, Tomato Growing Contests and Christmas gatherings. She was involved in the community and enjoyed membership in the Westminster Bridge Club for over 50 years. When Heather was in her forties she returned to the work force, taking a job in the office at Sears Canada for twenty-two years, never taking a sick day.
That was symbolic of the person she was; deeply loyal, hard-working and committed. She also took up golf in her forties, an activity she would enjoy into her eighties, always walking the 18-hole course, stubbornly refusing to take a cart even in the sweltering heat. In retirement, besides golfing she enjoyed traveling with Frankie, volunteering at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, playing bridge and hanging out with her Walking Club friends. She made friends wherever she went, a skill that served her well when she moved into the Cambridge Senior Residence, Pointe Claire in 2020.
Heather will be deeply missed by her children Diane (Ivan Petrovich), Danny (late Susan Lague), Mike (Sherri Newman), Mark (Lori Morris), Tammy (Tracie McGee) and Wendy (Tom Fahey). She loved being Gran to Jean, Ryan, Alison, Adam, Sean, Ethan, Quinn, Stefi, Trevor, Bennett and Colin. She is also survived by her great-grandson Aidan, and her sister and best friend, Frances Gordon (late Bevan Jones), as well as niece Andrea and nephews Greg and Graeme. She was pre-deceased by her husband Roger, her brother-in-law Pierre Lague (Heather Groves), and her sister-in-law Gaëtane Lague.
