It was May of 1970, and my parents had moved us from the city to a West Island suburb where there were exactly two streets and a single connecting road. At the end of one of those streets was our bungalow, and it was there that I watched them begin their lives as suburbanites. It has to be said, there were stumbles.

Pointe-Claire Masters World Record

There were 100 swimmers. They ranged in age from their mid-20s to 91. And it took them five hours, 53 minutes and 54 seconds. And when it was all done, the Pointe Claire Masters swim team had accomplished what they set out to do — set a new world’s record and submit their feat to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Fairview Forest

With the prospects of yet two more studies on the ecological and public benefit of preserving Pointe Claire’s Fairview Forest expected to be delivered in the coming months, the grassroots group that has been pushing for the wooded area to be preserved as a natural space is continuing to beat its drum in an ongoing campaign to galvanize support to save the woodlot from development.
